Here’s how we’re turning that commitment into action:
Ensuring We Are Sourcing Sustainably
At The Cotswold Letting Agency, we’re taking a practical, locally focused approach to sustainability. One of the most important steps has been to source more responsibly. We’re building partnerships with local suppliers, reducing the carbon footprint that comes from long-distance transport while strengthening the regional economy. Wherever possible, we also prioritise organic materials to help safeguard the wider ecosystem.
Making Changes To Be More Energy Efficient
Energy use is another key focus. In partnership with Carbon Neutral Britain, we’ve pledged to invest in renewable energy solutions and conduct regular audits to spot areas for improvement. These audits guide decisions such as upgrading appliances and lighting to more efficient options, helping us steadily lower our energy consumption.
Rethinking How We Manage Waste
Waste management is also front of mind. Our waste reduction programme encourages the team to minimise, reuse and recycle as part of everyday practice. We’ve even introduced a wormery in our courtyard garden, turning food scraps into compost in a natural, low-impact way.
Conserving Water
Water conservation runs hand in hand with this. Low-flow taps have been fitted in our loo to cut down on usage, while a water butt in the courtyard collects rainwater to keep the garden thriving without unnecessary waste.
Making Greener Travel Choices
We’re also rethinking how we travel. Car-sharing is encouraged wherever possible, and we’re exploring the use of an electric bike for short trips around the Cotswolds – a small but meaningful change that supports greener mobility. That’s in addition to the electric car we have introduced into our company fleet for those longer trips.
Engaging and Empowering Our Team
None of this would work without our people. Every member receives training on sustainable practices and how their actions contribute to the bigger picture. To keep ideas flowing, we’re developing reward schemes that recognise staff who suggest or implement new initiatives, embedding sustainability into the way we work every day.
Supporting the Local Community
Beyond our office, we’re actively involved in the local community. We partner with conservation groups such as Caring for the Cotswolds, supporting their projects and taking part in team volunteering days dedicated to clean-ups and restoration efforts across the region.
Sustainable Marketing Practices
Finally, sustainability is built into how we present ourselves. We favour digital materials and environmentally conscious print methods, reducing the footprint of our marketing.
