Stonefield House – 198, The Hill, Burford
- Back Garden
Stonefield House is a magnificent home located at the top end of the hill, overlooking the unbroken line of ancient houses and shops that make up Burford High Street, which sweeps downhill towards the River Windrush embedded in the rolling hills, with vast views of the Cotswold countryside. The town of Burford is famously known as 'The Gateway to the Cotswolds!' and with immediate access to the lovely local shops, restaurants and countryside walks that make up the dreamy Cotswolds-this home truly is a hidden gem on the hill.
Stonefield is absolutely enchanting, with that stunning sandstone exterior complimented by the clean & chic interior carefully curated by the Owners. The entire home is bright and spacious, with grand windows that make the rooms beam with natural light and breathtaking views that overlook the manicured garden.
As you walk into the property through its stone arch entrance, you're greeted by a very welcoming hallway with lots of storage, bookshelves and a WC as well as a set of stairs that lead up to the first floor. Before the stairs and to the right of the hallway, there is a sitting room. The sitting room is a light and airy space, ideal as a reading room, a second study or evening lounge which you can cosy up in alongside the fireplace.
If you retreat back into the hallway, you'll find a study that peels off a stone framed arched corridor with glass panels, which sunlight radiates through and illuminates the whole space. This unique piece of architecture is subtle but gorgeous, as it combines the properties recent extensions with its original additions. The study is a relaxing space, where someone could easily work from home, take conference calls or for children to complete homework. The study can be made more private by closing the doors off from the corridor.
Just past the study and through to the end of the hallway, the house opens up into a magnificent open plan kitchen, dining room and sun lounge. This space is truly the heart of the house, with glass patio doors that open out and overlook the lawn of green where the family can enjoy evenings of relaxation and entertainment. The kitchen is polished with marble counters, generous storage, chic neutral tones and modern appliances enhancing the glamourous feel that the house emits. Whether you're a Chef, hostess or entertainer this space brings the whole family together!
Adjacent to this, there is a smaller hallway that leads you out into the garden but just before this, there is a WC, boiler room and utility room. Stonefield House is not only elegant, but extremely practical too which makes a stay there even more comfortable.
You walk out onto a graveled patio, which is an ideal space for outdoor dining where you can enjoy the sunshine or sunsets that paint the Burford sky. The garden is a large stretch of green lawn, which has been immaculately maintained. With borders of plants and lavender, bees and butterflies can be found fluttering around as well as birds tweeting from the trees which enhances the properties enchanting feel. At the end of the garden, there is a very sweet summer house
Up the stairs to see what overlooks the marvelous garden, you'll find 4 bedrooms on the first floor. The master bedroom is spectacular with generous wardrobe space, balcony doors that open out, lounging area as well as a sleek ensuite with a walk-in rainfall shower, bath and double basin. There is a second double bedroom as you reach the end of the hallway up the stairs, which has a wonderful view of the garden from an arched semi-circle window. There is also another two double bedrooms on the first floor, one which is an ensuite. You'll also find a large family bathroom, with clean interior and modern facilities.
On the second and final floor, you'll find a loft area which has been converted to act as a fifth bedroom, entertainment space or study-whatever you need it to be really! There is one level to it, but split across two sides divided by a set of stairs as you enter. This has been cleverly transformed as it is a great use of the extra space and has been fitted with lots of cabinets and cupboard for storage purposes.
There is an enclosed gravel driveway round the front of the house, which is incredibly valuable for a much desired location like Burford.
